The 4th Annual Tejon Indian Tribal Pow Wow, themed “Honoring Our Ancestors”, took place at the University of Cal State Bakersfield in 2018. We explore the contemporary value of Pow Wow culture and dance for Southern California native peoples. Although a tradition that originated in the Plains, it has been adopted in California over past generations and is a vital forum for native peoples to gather, and invite the non-native community, to celebrate their living culture.
